Welcome to Practice With A Purpose, a 501(c)3 charitable organization. We help bring music students together to perform for people in need at hospitals, schools, churches, cancer centers and many other institutions whose members can greatly benefit from, and enjoy, live music. For the students, it is an opportunity to practice with other students and hone their playing and performing skills. For their audiences, it is an opportunity to savor the joy that live music can bring to their lives. Researchers have found that throughout history humankind has created music. Regardless of the era, culture, geography, race, or sophistication of the society, music has been a foundational element of what binds us together as people. Neurologists have also found that whatever the form music takes, it has exactly the same effect on the brain – it stimulates feelings of happiness, joy, comfort, belonging and brotherhood. Things our communities and the world could certainly benefit from.

The volunteers and the staff of Practice With A Purpose are some of the most wonderful and talented people I have ever met. Their energy, compassion, and sense of purpose are turning a simple vision into a powerful force in our communities. The hundreds of people they have played for and the impact they have had on the lives of so many are yet another testimony to the power each of us holds to make a positive and lasting impact in the world. We are a new organization and our numbers are growing each day. So, whether you are a music student who would like to play with other students, or an organization who would like our members to play for you, I am sure you will find Practice With A Purpose a great addition to the spirit of our communities.

Individually we may never have the opportunity to address the General Assembly of the United Nations, but together we can have an equally significant impact on the world by picking up our guitars, or sitting at the piano, and playing for people in need. Thanks for visiting and I do hope you’ll join us and support our efforts to play the music and share the joy.
